A Massage Gun For Deep Tissue Massage?
Let’s face it, massage guns are pretty much everywhere now. You have the US-based market leaders like Theragun now rebranded to TheraBody and Hyperice Hypervolt. Then you have the up and coming brands in the UK like MuscleGun, Pulseroll, Recovapro, Myosmaster and of course, ourselves Pinpoint Pro™️ .
Alongside these brands sits the cheaper massage guns available on Amazon and eBay for about 1/3 of the price. But we’ll cover that in another post.
The big question here is…..is a massage gun any good for a deep tissue massage?
Now, this isn’t going to be some in-depth article, but more of an overview…
Let’s jump in….
For those that are unfamiliar with the term, a deep tissue massage is a form of massage that does it exactly what it says on the tin, deep tissue massage!
Similar somewhat to a Swedish massage, the main difference is the increased pressure applied to the muscle to focus on the deep layers of the muscle and fascia.
Deep tissue massage treatments are mostly used to treat musculoskeletal disorders(issues within the human body that affects the muscles, ligaments, tendons etc). It is an umbrella term that covers a lot of musculoskeletal problems.
Some common musculoskeletal issues include
- Tendonitis/Tendinitis
- Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
- Tension Neck Syndrome
- DeQuevains Syndrome
- Trigger Finger Syndrome
Benefits of a Deep Tissue Massage
So for those that haven’t experienced the “pleasures” of a deep tissue massage, there are a number of benefits apart from the obvious fact that it feels good.
Stress Relief
Let’s face it, we all suffer from some form of stress. It's part and parcel of our daily lives. But did you know a deep tissue massage can help alleviate that? Not just a deep tissue massage, but any one of a number of various massages are good to relieve stress as it helps increase the dopamine, serotonin and endorphin levels.
Manage Chronic Pain
An absolute pain in the butt **** but one that is suffered by nearly 1.5 billion people in the world according to the BU School of Public Health. A deep tissue massage will help relax those tight knotted muscles especially those with chronic back pain or chronic neck pain. Chronic pain sufferers will also benefit from a longer sleep at night
Flexibility Improvement
A little known benefit from a deep tissue massage is the improvement in flexibility. Frequent and continuous treatment will help not just the flexibility but also your range of motion. This, in turn, keeps your joints more fluid making you less prone to sustaining injuries.
Ok….so how does a massage gun fit into all this?
Well if you’re reading this on our site www.pinpointpro.co.uk, then I’d say you must be in the market for a massage gun or doing some sort of research about it because you’ve heard of it from a mate or you saw one of our ads, or at least that’s what I assume.
But nevertheless, how can a massage gun or more to the point, how can our massage gun the Pinpoint Pro™️ MK1 help in a deep tissue massage treatment?
Drum roll………..
“Stall Force……………..
Put simply, the higher the stall force on a massage gun, the more pressure you can push down on the massage which in turn means you can use a massage gun for a deep tissue massage/treatment.
But alas…….not all massage guns come with a high stall force. The cheaper the massage gun, the lower the stall force. Ebay and Amazon comes to mind.
Our very own has a stall force of 50lbs/22kg which means you’ll have no problem with pushing the massage gun deep into the muscle to hit those deep muscle fibres.
